It is home to the Santa Fe land iguana, found only here, and features a forest of giant Opuntia cacti that create a unique and arid landscape. Its crystal-clear waters are perfect for snorkeling with sea turtles, eagle rays, and a wide variety of tropical fish. On land, it is common to find colonies of sea lions resting and various seabird species, such as blue-footed boobies. The island also boasts white sandy beaches ideal for relaxing.

Known for its striking natural contrasts and rich biodiversity. It is famous for its large colonies of land iguanas freely roaming among the Opuntia cacti and volcanic rock formations. On this island, you can observe blue-footed boobies, frigatebirds, and the iconic swallow-tailed gull, a Galápagos emblem. The cliffs covered with red vegetation provide spectacular color, especially during the dry season. In the water, snorkeling offers encounters with sea turtles and tropical fish.

From the top of its trail, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of volcanic landscapes, white sandy beaches, and the Pacific Ocean. The island is home to a small population of Galápagos penguins, the only penguin species found north of the equator. Its waters are ideal for swimming and snorkeling with reef sharks, rays, and colorful fish. The island’s geology reflects the archipelago’s active volcanic history, with lava formations, craters, and basalt columns.

This island offers one of the best spots to witness the spectacular display of male frigatebirds inflating their red throat pouches during mating season, along with large colonies of blue-footed boobies performing their characteristic courtship dance. Also inhabiting the island are swallow-tailed gulls, brown pelicans, and other seabirds. On land, you may see land iguanas, sea lions, and drought-adapted flora, including hardy shrubs and cacti. Snorkeling near Seymour provides encounters with white-tip reef sharks, rays, sea turtles, and schools of tropical fish. It’s a perfect island for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.
